Sydney based artist Brendan Van Hek returns to his hometown of Perth during the 2017 City of Perth Winter Arts Season with Light Study, on display at the Piccadilly Arcade from 30 June - 30 July. Light Study draws inspiration from the Noongar season of Makuru - the coldest and wettest of the year. A time of fertility and pairing for animals, it is also a period of high winds and dramatic storms.
Sydney based WA artist Consuelo Cavaniglia presents atmospheres from 30 June - 31 August at the Plaza Arcade as part of the City of Perth Winter Arts Season 2017. This beautiful mural transforms an everyday space into a spectacle to behold. Shades of colour give the illusion there is a light emanating from the wall. Instead of a solid structure the wall suddenly feels as if you could walk through it.

Art Collective WA presents Ham Darroch as artist in residence for all of July. Developing a major wall work in the gallery, Ham Darroch is an Australian artist working in sculpture, performance and drawing. His sculptures are created from existing objects which are altered and redirected using colour to reveal new meanings. His paintings are inspired by the action of everyday objects.

This exhibition will present the perspectives of a number of diverse Indigenous artistic communities from across Western Australia who were, in one way or another, significantly affected by the consequences of the yes vote in the 1967 Referendum.
Leading Noongar/Yamatji artist Lance Chadd, who paints under his tribal name Tjyllyungoo, will launch his new exhibition Kardamorda at the Forest Heritage Centre, Dwellingup on Sunday, July 2 at the start of Naidoc Week celebrations.
Families and children can enjoy a range of Nearer to Nature activities at various venues around Perth from 2 - 29 July, 2017. The Department of Parks and Wildlife's Nearer to Nature team provides the community with unique, enjoyable activities that help participants discover marvellous natural areas in and around Perth.

Fremantle's Hidden Treasures Winter Music Series returns this July with a mix of ripe new bands, well-seasoned cult heroes, perfectly-cured venues and… a musical tram on 6, 13, 20 & 27 July. The event is a taste-making showcase of WA's hottest young acts while also celebrating specially-reformed cult bands from the state's rich musical past.

Evoking connection to the Western Australian landscape, Marisa Tindall presents an examination of sense of place and belonging in a month-long solo exhibition and residency at Mundaring Art Centre. Working with mediums derived from the natural landscape, such as resin, wax and earth, Tindall will present finalized works on paper and board alongside works in progress.
Sound is made tangible in an upcoming collaborative exhibition with contemporary composer Annika Moses and visual artist Shannon Lyons at the Mundaring Arts Centre. The exhibition will be held in Gallery 1 from 7 July to 6 August 2017.
