Arts and culture in Perth

Perth is alive with a spectacular mix of music, theatre, comedy, dance and visual art. This rich tapestry of cultural experiences is on offer throughout the year across the region.

Music lovers are in for a treat, with plenty of live music on offer especially in cultural hotspots like Perth, Northbridge, Subiaco and Fremantle. You'll find music ranging from rock bands at trendy pubs to chilled-out jazz floating from wine bars and restaurants. Perth is also emerging as a comedy capital, with hilarious local and international acts regularly on offer at special comedy clubs or pubs, especially in Northbridge.

  • Ruins

    Perth | Dates: 26 Jun – 30 Aug, 2017
    Brought to you by the team behind Success and Moana Project Space, ​Ruins ​presents two installations in the city from 26 June - 31 August as part of the City of Perth Winter Arts Season 2017. Showcased in two locations in the City, these installations explore the environmental impact of human consumption.
  • Atmospheres

    Perth | Dates: 30 Jun – 31 Aug, 2017
    Sydney based WA artist Consuelo Cavaniglia presents atmospheres from 30 June - 31 August at the Plaza Arcade as part of the City of Perth Winter Arts Season 2017. This beautiful mural transforms an everyday space into a spectacle to behold. Shades of colour give the illusion there is a light emanating from the wall. Instead of a solid structure the wall suddenly feels as if you could walk through it.
  • Journeys - A Photographic Exhibition

    Fremantle | Dates: 01 Jul – 28 Aug, 2017
    2017 marks one hundred years of popular photography in Western Australia and the centenary of Nikon. To celebrate, the WA Maritime Museum has partnered with the WA Camera Club and Nikon to stage an exhibition of popular photography from 1 July - 28 August. Celebrating life through the eyes of our WA photography community.
  • Kardamorda

    Dwellingup | Dates: 02 Jul – 04 Oct, 2017
    Leading Noongar/Yamatji artist Lance Chadd, who paints under his tribal name Tjyllyungoo, will launch his new exhibition Kardamorda at the Forest Heritage Centre, Dwellingup on Sunday, July 2 at the start of Naidoc Week celebrations.
