Arts and culture in Perth

Perth is alive with a spectacular mix of music, theatre, comedy, dance and visual art. This rich tapestry of cultural experiences is on offer throughout the year across the region.

Music lovers are in for a treat, with plenty of live music on offer especially in cultural hotspots like Perth, Northbridge, Subiaco and Fremantle. You'll find music ranging from rock bands at trendy pubs to chilled-out jazz floating from wine bars and restaurants. Perth is also emerging as a comedy capital, with hilarious local and international acts regularly on offer at special comedy clubs or pubs, especially in Northbridge.

  • Gian Manik and David Charles Collins

    Perth | Dates: 12 Jun – 26 Sep, 2017
    Drawing inspiration from Western Australia's most dramatic landscapes, FORM Gallery presents new works from painter Gian Manik and photographer David Charles Collins from 12 June - 26 September. The artists' resulting solo exhibitions at FORM Gallery premiere the first major bodies work each of them has shown in Perth since leaving their home state.

    Curated by Gemma Weston, The Likeness features works from the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art, exploring ideas of self-determination and identity at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at the University of WA from 13 June - 22 August.

    Perth | Dates: 16 Jun – 03 Aug, 2017
    For six weeks, sound artist Steve Paraskos and the Tura New Music team will set-up studio in an Enex shopfront as part of the City of Perth Winter Arts Season 2017. Enter and immerse yourself in a live exploration of sound and video projection. Each Friday, new themes, sounds and sights will be performed in the space.
  • Old Mill Theatre presents Cloudstreet

    South Perth | Dates: 16 Jun – 01 Jul, 2017
    The classic Australian novel Cloudstreet by Tim Winton will open its pages onto the Old Mill Theatre stage this June. Adapted by Nick Enright and Justin Monjo and directed by Brendan Ellis, it spans 20 years in the lives of the Pickles and the Lambs, two families thrown together by fortune in a large, haunted house in Cloud Street, Perth.
