Elizabeth Quay

Elizabeth Quay

Elizabeth Quay's Opening Events

It seems like only yesterday that Queen Elizabeth II graced us with her presence to have a traditional Aussie BBQ on the foreshore. Five years later, this same waterfront is being redeveloped to honour her majesty. The Elizabeth Quay development aims to reconnect Perth with its best natural asset, the Swan River, in a more exciting way.

This new development features ultra-trendy cafes, bars and restaurants for those looking to get the most out of their dining experience. Elizabeth Quay will also have a replica of the first ship to land on Australian shores, the Duyfken, to teach visitors and locals alike about an important part of the country's history.

With this exciting new Perth development opening on January 29th 2016, here is a guide to help you stay up to date with all events around Elizabeth Quay this summer.

Events at Elizabeth Quay

Elizabeth Quay Opening Weekend

The opening of Elizabeth Quay will include a range of shows the whole family can enjoy, including a visual arts performance like you’ve never seen before. Running nightly from January 29th to February 21st, between 8pm and 10pm, laser light show uses water and lights to create stunning visual art set to music from local musicians. Each show runs for ten minutes and they're free to attend, leaving you with more money to splash out on a tasty dinner from the variety of food trucks and restaurants.

The Fringe World Festival is also getting on board with opening weekend. The Fringe World Fairground, located at Elizabeth Quay will run from January 29th to March 6th and it will be the only place you can pick up a nifty Fringe World Showbag. Take in Perth's city lights from the top of the vintage carousel, or meet the Fringe World Mermaids that will be attending the opening, exclusively. The Urban Roller Club is even setting up Perth's first outdoor roller rink for those game enough to test out their skating abilities in front of the crowds. Find out more about this event.

Chevron Festival Gardens

Chevron and the Perth International Arts Festival are pitching in with amazing Festival Gardens at Elizabeth Quay. With sixty years of festivals up their sleeve, the Perth International Arts Festival is the oldest celebration of its kind in Australia.

Each year, they wow Australians and tourists with magnificent sights and wonderful experiences, like the Giants who came all the way from France to walk our city streets. Kickback and relax in the garden while you indulge in the locally sourced food, or watch local and international acts tear up the main stage while you unleash your moves in the crowd. Perth Triathlon

Was your New Year's Resolution to take part in the Perth Triathlon? If yes, then you are a rock star. If not, that's completely understandable. So, if you're not competing, take the opportunity to head down to Elizabeth Quay on the 21st of February and support family and friends during their run/swim/bike.

Make up some signs to help competitors stay motivated, make them laugh or just distract them from the pain they are probably experiencing. Being a part of Perth means being supportive to our fellow Perthians and what's more Australian that barracking for our mates? Find out more about this event.
