The City of Perth is to host the largest public art event in the world - CowParade Perth 2016 - with 40 life-sized cow sculptures to be magically transformed by Western Australia’s most exciting fashion designers and artists.
The State's hottest emerging and established fashion designers – Poppy Lissiman, Ae'lkemi, Empire Rose, Elle Campbell, Megan Salmon, and Katherine Dunmill have all been commissioned by the City of Perth, in partnership with the Perth Public Art Foundation, to create unique artworks.
Visual artists across sculpture, urban art, painting, drawing and mixed media have also been commissioned to paint and/or draw, and potentially even deconstruct the cows into works of art for the Parade. Artists include Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Arif and Audrey Satar, Liam Dee, Olga Cironis, Paul Caporn and Peter Ellis, Elizabeth Marruffo, Gregory Pryor, Peter Farmer, Alister Yiap, Penny Coss, Helen Smith, and Clare McFarlane.
CowParade Perth 2016 will run for six weeks from 31 October to 11 December 2016, with cows to be exhibited in malls, parks, iconic buildings and precincts. Many of the cows will be auctioned at the 2016 Lexus Ball for Telethon, raising money to support child health research.
